Hooking up an iPod to your car stereo is easy if it’s got an auxiliary input, but not all models do particularly older ones. An FM transmitter is an option but you’ll need to spend some time finding a spare slot of bandwidth, otherwise all you’ll hear is noisy interference. Griffin’s new RoadTrip with SmartScan, however, makes it easy to find with the best frequency. Just press a button and it’ll quickly scan through and find the three channels with the least interference. Simply tune your car stereo to the same frequency shown on the RoadTrip’s backlit screen and you’re ready to go. It plugs into the cigarette lighter socket, so it will charge your iPod while you’re on the road and there’s a cradle for holding the player in a convenient position.
